Playing records at 45 (e.g. "Summertime Clothes")
It's a juvenile experiment, yeah, but just for the heck of it, I played "Summertime Clothes" at the 45 speed-setting on my record player and it actually sounds really really really really crazy and awesome?
Imagine if Alvin and the Chipmunks took a touch of Valium and a few tablespoons of sugar each, grabbed a couple of pogo-sticks from the garage and decided to paint the town red (and all the other colours of the rainbow); that's sort of what I picture when listening to the wonderful mess that is "Summertime Clothes" in 45.
So does anyone know of any songs that actually sound cool when sped up at 45? "Daily Routine" was just a little too weird for me and the only part of "Bluish" that really worked was its chorus. If there are any other jams worth trying, please name 'em.
playing fun dink death @ 33 (it runs @ 45) is lols
I listened to Sun Ra's Strange Strings on 45 and totally didn't even notice until side two
what effect in the long term will playing at 45 have on your records? Can it distort the sound quality or add more pops or scratches? I haven't noticed any difference thus far. But dystw pops like crazy and that shit is pretty much brand new.
i read someone write about this one and so its not my own find, but Paul McCartney's RAM is 1000x better on 45 than 33. the dude even ripped side-a on 45 to prove his point, and its srsly awesome.

You're all insane. Everything sounds better slow. EVERYTHING.
I normally don't like to do that for more than a few seconds because I'm worried it'll ruin the vinyl record and/or the actual vinyl record player.
